All of us made it out alive and okay

“My dad was in World War ll and Korea, two of my brothers went into the Air Force and another brother went into the Army. I did 19 years in the Army and never got shot at and never shot anybody. My son went in and in less than nine years went to war twice with two tours in Iraq. He also went to Korea and Egypt. You can take care of yourself but it is harder when you worry about your kids. All of us made it out alive and okay. Even more amazing that out of four brothers, all of us qualified mentally, morally and physically and got to serve. I am the service officer at Post 76 on Duvall Street. We seek out veterans that need help, food shelter and try to help them get whatever help they need. We get them counseling, rehabilitation and let them know about the services and programs available. In Alabama, we have a program called Title 31 that says that any veteran with 20 percent disability, his spouse and dependents can go to any state-sponsored institution of higher learning tuition and books free. Veterans need to know about the programs that can make their lives better. We also sponsor activities at local schools and give them flags. I am still here. It is now all about giving back.”

Thank you & your family for your many years of service. What a fine work you are doing now giving back to others who weren’t as fortunate as yourselves! God bless you in all of your endeavors.
