Brexit has already hurt my business

“Brexit has already hurt our business and it hasn’t officially started yet. It is much harder to get employees because many people have gone back to Europe. The cost of milk, cheese and bread has gone up because we get those from Europe. It is an odd position for an island nation to come out of a trade agreement because it is harder to get goods. We aren’t connected to anything anymore. Several businesses on our street have closed the last six months. I have been in this location for a year-and-a-half, but have been in the business for 20 years. I opened this bagel shop because it was something affordable people can still do. My wife and I got our financial planning license and there is no business. The pound dropped and people aren’t buying real estate. They are moving their money out of London. I voted against it, but I wish we would just get this over with so we can begin to move on. There is no plan, no one knows where this will go,  and it is going to take five to ten years to recover. The haves are going to be okay either way. The have nots are worried. Some customers come in wearing expensive suits but their credit cards are declined. It happens a lot. I have never seen it like this in England, but we were still a civil people.”
