Full moons and Halloween were the worst times to work in a jail

“This is a great opportunity to show the world we can come together. I was in the US Air Force in the 70’s. I was in for 6 years. I loved it and hated to leave, but I became a deputy sheriff in Toledo, Ohio and spent 30 years with the sheriff’s department. In the eary days there were only a few females. It wasn’t easy and I had to work twice as hard. Many men didn’t help. After I made it through, I became someone others could seek out for help. I retired from there 10 years ago but would gladly do it again. I worked in the booking area of the jail and full moons and Halloween were the worst times to work there. People lost their minds and I don’t know why. We had a lot of babies born those times too. It could get very violent. It is better now. I am a strong woman with my own convications and teach my daugther the same. I told her to be herself no matter what anyone says.”
