I am not afraid of anything, but some things hurt

“I have been homeless for a year. I left Houston and came back home. I’ve been in and out of the Salvation Army and out on the streets. It is rough. Rough. Especially when you aren’t a street person. I worked in Houston selling papers and doing concrete work. I was a pipefitter at Ingalls’ shipyard. Some of my best friends are white. My daddy is 90 years old and taught me about love in the work. I am the oldest. 5 boys and 2 girls. 2 of my brothers are dead. I used to wash diapers for my brothers and sisters. Wash them, dip them in bleach and hang them up to dry. They didn’t have Pampers in the 70’s.”

“Does anything scare you?”

“The Bible says, ‘Don’t be afraid.’ I am not afraid of anything, but some things hurt. When someone you love mistreats you, that hurts.”

“When someone you love mistreats you, that hurts”….no truer words ever spoken.

Seems like a kind soul. You’re collecting lots of kind souls.
