I did this with a two-year old but she gave me the push to be better

“I am about to graduate from nursing school and will be an RN. I did this with a two-year-old, but she gave me the push I needed to be better. It has been so hard but I had a great support system. I started this and knew the odds of me finishing it were slim but every day I had a little push to stay in. I graduate May 4 and I am going to work in the surgical trauma ICU at South. It is life or death in that unit. I have fulfillment from being with patients at their worst and best moments. I have worked with patients with no expectancy to live and moved them to a regular room on the floor and they went home a week later. It is a crazy time to go into medical care. I am lucky I got in my hours for the practicum because they suspended us from going back into the hospital as students. Some didn’t have a chance to get all of their hours before that happened. My celebration is relaxing for the first time in two years. One of my nursing school best friends is getting married and we were going to go on a cruise in May for her bachelorette party. That was going to be our celebration but now that may not happen. I got pregnant and came to Coastal thinking it would be the easier route, but this is the number one nursing program in Alabama and it is hardcore. It was harder than I expected, but I am prepared and proud that I made it through.”
