I leave a place a little better than I found it

March 28, 2019

This is the first time to use this coil on the metal detector and I am learning it. It takes 20-30 hours to master a coil because of the different tones and depths. I pick up glass and trash so the kids don’t cut themselves. I just found some rusty metal and have a hand full of glass. I stepped on something rusty on the beach when I was a kid and almost had to learn to walk again. I try to prevent someone else from doing that. Pay it forward. This is my television. It is good exercise and peaceful. I became an EMT after retirement. Retirement lasted about 30 seconds. Taking care of each other is what we should do. Everyone calls me Papa Chip.

We live in South Carolina, but my wife is from Fairhope and I have come here for years. It has changed. More people, more traffic. As our generation gets older, we remember how things used to be. I still have my father’s World War Two diary. Everything was swell and a great guy and great gal. He writes about playing ping pong. Times were simpler.  I came out here to slow life down and leave a place a little better than I found it.”
