“I have been living in my car since I found out I couldn’t afford to live without it. It did my laundry yesterday and on the bulletin board was posted ‘$250 a week for one bedroom one bath.’ $1,000 a month. It costs me nothing to live in my car. It is a 1989 Lincoln Continental and as taken me across the country and up the west coast. I also use it as a signboard for scripture because Jesus has always provided for me. I am an itinerant preacher of the Lord Jesus Christ. In 1975, I was working and playing music in Hawaii with a beautiful girlfriend and baby when I saw the face of God.
I was in my car the morning it was hit in a parking lot. It was 4 in the morning. I got out a jack and fixed the car that time. Then I was hit on Feb. 14th from behind. A guy on a four-lane highway hit me in broad daylight and kept going. It is a little distorted from the beautiful car it was, but it still drives perfect. Since then I have been to Georgia and South Carolina and went to the river and swam. The scripture where my car was hit says, ‘If you have done it unto one of the least of these, my brethren, you have done it unto me.’ Sometimes people give me money or help me out and I try to pass that on to someone else.
Before the car, I lived on a sailboat for several years. It’s hard to hold your balance when you are pushing against the tide.”
