I pray the rosary every morning before I go to work as a caregiver

“I get up every morning at five to say prayers and go to mass every day. I stop by the bay to pray the rosary before I go to work as a caregiver. My priority is my church. It wasn’t always like that. I did a lot of stupid things when I was younger. Ten years ago my sister passed away of cancer. She was 37 and had four kids. She lived in the Philippines and I thought she was a saint. I asked God, why was she the one to die, it should be me. I was the materialistic one who did the stupid things. God said, ‘Come to me, I want you to know me.’ We are God’s children and he doesn’t intend for us to stay away. We were born as sinners. Mistakes are God’s plan for us to learn and be rooted in Him. When I was younger, I didn’t think of who made the skies, the trees, the water, and flowers. Now I sit out here and see him everywhere.  I believe God created me to care for the elderly. They pass away and it is hard to say goodbye. You get so attached. My patient has dementia now. Most people don’t think my job as a caregiver is a real job. There is no job security or benefits. But I don’t need anything else but my daughter, God is amazing. He provides everything for us. I am happy now with food on the table and a roof over our heads. The more you have, the more you try to protect it. You are always suspicious of people and look down on those who have less than you.”
