I was brought up to care for people, not judge them

October 4, 2020

“I made a post on Facebook about helping the homeless and feeding people. I got a bigger response than I expected. Monique joined and we clicked and we started with the homeless. We started about two months ago and this is our fifth event. I was brought up to care for other people and not judge them. I am one of five boys. I also have five kids. I want to be an example to my kids and live out my purpose in life.

This crew has also become my family. It is good to see how happy a meal can make someone. Making them happy makes me happy. We do this for free with support from donations. It often comes out of our pocket and don’t expect anything in return. Sometimes it is hard for others to accept free food, but it is our chance to live them. I want to set a trend for others to follow. If it is helping people, I want to do it. I would like to have a daddy daycare. I grew up in Mobile and love it. I want to do all I can for it.”

“We tried to feed once or twice a week based on donations. We feed a Cathedral Place apartments and in Crichton and DIP. We also feed at a group home. We now have a crew of six to ten. The needs are growing from the Coronavirus and the hurricane and there are so many things we want to do. The weather is getting colder, we also want to give out socks and jackets.”

“We want to do more than serve food. We are serving lunch at the Rotary Youth in Fairhope and coming back this weekend to help a church cut trees and clean up a house. We all need each other and work better as a team.”
