“I was in bed and the tree landed on top of me. I got out from under the tree. It was pitch black. I have PTSD from it. Every pop and snap that I hear at night wakes me up. I bought the house three years ago and I have lived in this community for 22 years. I love the Halloween, Christmas, and dinner parties we had here. Now they will be work parties.
I work my business part of the day and clean up the rest of the day. I have a lawn and garden service, but it has been a tough year. I suffered the Coronavirus in May and it drug on for a while. By now, I would have had the money to pay for the tree coming down if I hadn’t gotten sick and couldn’t work. This is my busy season, but I am concerned I won’t have work for a while because my accounts are on the river and those yards were devastated. I call my landscape company the Slopjar Cafe and Grass Cutting service. I am a retired chef that became disenchanted. I am happy go lucky and like to have fun. When your job is no longer fun, it is time for a change.
I am learning to play the bagpipes and the djembe. I also can food. The scopernones were heavy this year so I made jelly. It tastes like grape. I usually give them out for Christmas gifts but no one is getting Christmas gifts this year.”
