“I grow all of the greens and everything here is homegrown. I was born and raised on a farm in Monroe County. My dad was a sharecropper. I will be 72 in March and I don’t want to go home and sit. I meet a lot of people out here. Sometimes I have 5 or 6 cars out here and people think I am doing a lot of selling, but I am just doing a whole lot of talking.
A friend of mine has a few acres behind Walmart. He is 82 and he plants the vegetables and I grow them. I am an outside person and feel at home in my garden. I like to see things grow. It is a challenge to get it to grow, especially when it is dry. Every seed you plant is not going to come up. That is the same way life is. You can think one thing but it can be something else down the road. I just take it one day at a time.”
