“We are going to tear down that house, but I hate to do it. It is where we grew up. All five of us. It didn’t used to look like that when we lived there and I used to keep the tin up on it. We only had one TV and it was in mama’s room and we all sat down beside the bed. My favorite memories are playing in the woods. We had my grandmother’s stove and had to cut wood for it year-round. I am the baby and I lost my mama last year. She wouldn’t tell what was wrong, but I think she got the cancer back. She lived past Shake on the Lake and she would call and say come over because she had something cooking. My sister used to live in the house across the road that burned down. I have almost 700 bottles on that bottle tree. I pack them in and have busted a few because the eagle keeps falling off the top. We don’t do anything out here but carry on. I have been with my baby for 20 years. She styles hair. I started working on air conditioners on my own and 13 years later I am kind of sharp. This is my life story on this table. These are pictures of my family and they make me happy. This is my son when he was a baby. He passed. He would have been 16. This is my pretty-ass pit bull Grunt Grunt and that is my sister dressed up like a hippie for dress-up day at school. The federal prison is across the river, but no one has ever made the river. In October they crank up the cotton gin and for weeks I go to sleep to the hum. We have sunsets every night. I am telling you, it is nice out here.”

What a wonderful story. I love this. He sounds like he has everything he needs. The important things. A loving family, warm memories, a great relationship, and a skill that he excels in. Thank you.
