Kids tell Santa things they would never tell anyone else

“I am Santa 365 days a year. I love making someone smile and laugh and have a brief moment where they forget about reality. It may take them to a time of joy when they were seven years old, but you can see it in their eyes. I was at the Grand Hotel this morning and an older lady came up to me and started crying because she was so happy to see me. The best thing in the world is to make someone smile just by walking into a room. I was Santa with a fake beard for about ten years. An event happened that told me I was supposed to do this full time. There were military people at the place where I worked. I walked into a meeting and there was a full colonel in his dress blues on the far side of the room. He jumped up and said, ‘Santa Clause.’ Then he ran around the conference table, grabbed me and hugged me. For a moment I saw the little boy in his eyes. That is when I knew I had to do this. I started growing out my beard, the one that God gave me.  Some kids ask for tablets and toys but some ask for clothes for their mom for an interview so she can get a job to take care of them. I don’t rush kids off my lap or treat them like a number because some kids talk to me because they don’t have anyone to talk to at home. They tell Santa things they would never tell anyone else.  There are some kids I know won’t get the gifts they want, but I have a little book and I write down their name and tell them that Santa will pray for them that night when I get home.  If I see kids in a store or somewhere and they recognize Santa, I give them a Santa ring and a hug any time of the year. I love to hug people because there is power in a hug.”
