“I once owned my own art gallery, but that lasted about 8 months because I was so busy I didn’t get to paint. I have deep roots here. My great-grandfather owned the Grand Hotel and sold it for $35,000 before the Depression. I paint most days. It is showing up at the canvass and painting. I like moving paint around and I do a lot of landscapes, white flowers and bouquets. I just finished a painting of cotton fields. I am known for broad brush strokes and color. Some people call my style transitional, but I don’t know what that means. There are times where I get tired of being full of paint. The owner of The Garage, where I paint, gave me a dress for Christmas. It was a wonderful gift and it made me feel pretty. I like to get my nails done to clean the paint from my fingers. I was once a journalist and realized I was a right brain person in a left brain field. I was taking care of my mother and I couldn’t be a journalist and care for her, so I turned to art. I have been working with elder care for the past year. I want to bring joy to people through my art or caretaking. “
