My husband works for Airbus and we have been here for 15 months

“I live next to Hamburg, in the north of Germany. My husband works for Airbus and we have been here for 15 months and will be here through July or August next year. I used to work for an airline and we went many times to America and other countries. Germans love to travel. Next year I turn 50 and we have our 25th wedding anniversary. We are traveling to New York, Washington, Boston and Philadelphia and then out to the see the canyons. I want to travel instead of having a party. The people here are so friendly and we are enjoying the weather and sun and blue sky. It has been good for my daughter to be here, it has given her self-confidence and she will graduate from high school here. Things have been changing in Germany while we have been here. We are used to helping migrants, and we want to help the families from Syria who have seen bad things, but we can’t help everybody. We don’t understand why they opened the border without security checks. We will have problems in the future from this. Muslim countries should take more of their brothers. Angela Merkel is usually a very good politician, she is tough and smart, but in this case, she made a mistake. If migrants want to come in and learn the language and work, that is not a problem. Companies offer jobs. But we have a problem with crime from men from north Africa. If someone commits a crime, they shouldn’t be our guest, but the countries they come from don’t want them back.”
