People think he is pulling me

“I walk Bama twice a day. We go about three city blocks. Everyone loves him and thinks he is pulling me. They have to meet him. He is always telling me, ‘I am ready mama.’ He was born in my dining room and I have raised him from the time he was born. My mom and dad passed away and I moved to Cathedral Place Apartments. I love the people there and living in the heart of Mobile. The death of my mom two-and-a-half years ago was the hardest thing I have been through. She was 92, and we were the closest friends. Daddy died in 2000. My mama and daddy and her sister and her husband, my daddy’s best friend, got married together on January 1. Mama and Daddy were married 56 years before he died. Aunt Jimmy and her husband were married 65 years before they passed. Back then people stayed together. Mama taught me to give love. She was a giver, never a taker. I still have the peace lily my best friend gave her and it is still blooming. I asked God for a sign. She loved hummingbirds and a hummingbird came to my window. She loved the peace lily and it just bloomed. My mama’s daddy ran the Biloxi lighthouse and he went up every day to light it. My mama’s generation has passed on and I have to share the family stories to pass them down.”
