This was our parent’s vision, but they never saw this

April 7, 2019

“I am a pastor at two churches in Holmes County, Mississippi. We just celebrated 26 years at one church. At the end of the year, we will celebrate 25 years at the other.  When I was a child, I would hear things and would cry out to the Lord. When I was 17, I had a vision. It is amazing how the Lord works. I read the Word and I stopped at, ‘Go ye and knock where he said. Go ye into all of the world and preach the gospel.’ I closed the Bible, but I couldn’t go to sleep. When I closed my eyes, I saw a light like white fire going up and down the front of my face. It scared me senseless. I sat up in my bed and couldn’t see. The Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, ‘Remember Paul on Damascus Road when he became blind for three days.’ The fear went away and I said, ‘Lord are you calling me to preach?’ The fire hit me from the top of my head and went down to the souls of my feet. I started to make excuses. It was 3:00 in the morning and the Holy Spirit said to get up and tell my parents. We were in tears and they were supportive of my preaching until they went to live with the Lord. I have preached around the world. I also work the cash register at Betty’s Place, the family business. Betty is my sister and she cooks.`

“We have had Betty’s Place for 11 years. My husband and I had a grocery store on the south side of town for 15 years. We drove an 18-wheeler before this.  I didn’t like being on the road. My husband found this gas station for the restaurant, but I didn’t want to cook. I never thought people from all over the world would come here and sign their names on these walls.  This was our parent’s vision, but they never saw this.”
“We owe everything to God and our parents. Our dad was a barber and cut everyone’s hair. Our mama baked cakes and was a dietitian with Head Start. She fed many, many children in Indianola and Sunflower County. Now the Lord has blessed us to feed people from across the country and around who love B.B. King and visit his museum down the street. I also sing, so I get our guests to sing with me. Healing and love come from singing together. One of my favorites to sing is ‘Touch Somebody’s Life.’
Touch somebody’s life With your goodness
Touch somebody’s life With your love
Touch somebody’s life With understanding
For it’s the only way to show our Father’s love
Touch somebody’s life as you pass them
You may never pass that close again
It’s not hard to reach out in love
And touch somebody
You’ll be surprised
How soon that same touch
Comes back to you
You need that touch. I need that touch. That touch of love comes right back to you.”
