Tomorrow is my first twirling practice at Troy University

“Tomorrow is my first twirling practice at Troy University. I started twirling when I was 14. The majorettes were like superstars to me when I was five years old. It has been a dream to be a Troy majorette since I was in sixth grade. For financial reasons, I went to community college for two years. But I kept the dream and kept practicing. My tryout song was Burnin’ Love by Elvis Presley. I was so tired of that song after practicing practicing my routine every day, five hours a day, for a year. I have grown so much as a twirler since high school. I had to audition online and video my routine. I am a perfectionist and it was ten times harder on video trying to get it right instead of doing it once in person. Every day for a week, I got up and did hair and makeup and videoed my routine over and over. It never felt good enough. Finally, I let it go and said if my best isn’t good enough, then that is how it falls. I screamed and cried when I got it. I hope there is going to be a football season. I will probably cry the first game. I teach baton lessons to little girls and keep the influence up in my town. I can’t wait to love on the little girls and be the role model that the Troy majorettes were to me.”
