We found out that life is not what the nuns told us it would be

“We went to grammar school and high school in Mobile, it was an all-girls school. There are times we have lost track because of kids. We just had our 50-year high school reunion. Was it last year or the year before?”

“We are all 69.”

“I don’t feel that old.”

Is it hard going from 69 to 70?

“I am not going. I stayed 39 for a long time. My son just turned 50, that makes me feel even older.”

“All of us were raised Catholic. I left the Catholic church when I was 21 and ran away from home. I went to Switzerland for about a year. But I am back in the church.”

“We are inconsistent Catholics.”

“I go to Christ the King. The two Irish priests are fabulous. We need to all go there.”

“Can you understand them?”

“I daydream during the sermon. If I pay attention I’m liable to get upset.”

“We have found out the life is not what the nuns told us it would be. You can’t get pregnant swimming in a pool with boys.”

“I was agraphobic for a while. I had a fear of wide open spaces. I didn’t want to leave my house. I went to therapy for 13 years. I guess I was slow.”

“We have always had this friendship. You have to tend it, but we don’t feel the difference in years. We start off where we were the last time we saw each other.”
