We haven’t seen each other in 35 years

“We haven’t seen each other in 35 years. We were friends when our children were swimming together when they were 9 or 10 years old. Our grandchildren swim together and it it gets in your blood.”

“We did a lot of traveling for swimming. We piled those kids in her stationwagon. It was big and ugly and held a lot of kids with no safety belts.”

“We started talking after her husband passed away two months ago and I called and asked her to lunch. It is good to see each other again.

“I don’t know what is next, or how to start over. I have lived so long as two people. Were were married for 50 years and 20 days. I don’t know if there is a wild side to find. My wild side was attending the Aretha Franklin concert was 50-years old. I embarrassed my children by having two drinks and making a few comments they didn’t see from me. They thought I was awful. I was an English teacher for 28 years and am so straight-laced. I have a creative side, or I used to, maybe I can find it again. She is going to help me figure it out to day. She has all of the answers.”

“I believe in giving back and helping as many people as I can. I retired almost 10 years ago. I was a chemist and did mostly environmental work. Downsizing and mergers forced me to retire earlier than I wanted to. It took my ego about three months to get over seeing they could run it without me. Then I moved on and realized I have time to do what I want to do like baking and cooking with my granddaughters. It has been a second life. I wouldn’t go back.”
