Percy Sledge was my cousin and I was his caregiver

Who I was yesterday is not who I am today

“My name, Jahjetta, means God goes before me. My life changes daily and I am evolving into the person I need to be. Who I was yesterday is not who I am today. As each seal is broken on each day, I want to be more conformed to the Lord and make lives better. Percy Sledge was my cousin and I was blessed to be his caregiver off and on through his battle with cancer. He was a man of integrity and knew the Lord. He was looking out for his family until the end. Before he took his last breath, he told his family not to mourn him and not to cry. He always wanted his fans and family to know how much he loved them. I just lost my good friend and sister-in-law, Linda, on Christmas Eve. She impacted a lot of lives. I watched her take her last breath and there was a peace in the room. She found peace and that gives me new hope.”
