“I have cooked in weird places, but this is the first time I have cooked at the bay. Sometimes I pack the van up and go places and meet people worse off than me and feed them. I throw vegetables in a pot and people think I am a good cook. There are potatoes, mushrooms, olives, olive oil, and almond milk in this pot. I don’t have my entire set of spices, so I am using an all-purpose season. The sour and sweet. It all balances out. Cooking is the joy of life and I like to know exactly what goes into my food. I write poetry and used to read it at parties and poetry readings when I lived in Miami. I need to find places to read it here. The one thing I know is none of us are right. Poetry is telling the beauty of your particular wrong.”
Good enough isn’t an option. It’s got to be the best I can do.
