“We are having date night, enjoying not having our four and five-year-olds with us. I had chemo today and my mother kept the girls. We tried Sage tonight and it was good. Chemo is tough, but I have two more and then I will have done 20 weeks. I am 34. In February, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease and four days later, I was diagnosed with stage three, triple negative breast cancer. Just for fun, I don’t get to take any medicine for the Crohn’s because it is in direct opposition to the chemo.”
“I work for an opthalmologist and work a lot with senior citizens. We are all going to be there one day.
“I have not met a lot of people who have a heart for older people like he does.”
“What I am going through now will be one of my stories when I am old. I will have interesting things to tell and motivation for young people going through things. My mother had breast cancer when she was 48. Being a realist, I knew it wasn’t a matter of if, but when. You mentally prepare for it, but it is hard when you are young. I had to find the silver lining. I am lucky because I have a very good support system.”
“I am the lucky one.”
“I am looking forward do doing fun things with our kids and get off the sofa. I have spent a lot of time on the sofa the last six months and I want to burn it. Just walking on the pier with my husband and having some quiet time is the important stuff. I am not adventurous and don’t need to jump out of a plane, but I do have a great love and that is what I want to put my time into.”
