“I played trumpet but put it down because I started working at the shipyard as a welder. I started playing again for the enjoyment. I like to make people happy and make them feel good. I play a different variety of songs, spirituals, R&B, rock ‘n’ roll. This is my second day in a row to play here this week. I play for the Lord, he gave me the talent so I give it back to him in service. I don’t entertain in church, I play for the Lord there. I entertain in the streets. I get compliments and have critics every now and then. There isn’t too much I can do now, I am old and crippled. I was born in Ft. Benning because my father fought in the Korean War. I grew up in Mobile. There is a lot of talent here,”
