I am blind in one eye, she is blind in one eye too. We have something in common

“We came here from Kentucky six years ago when we retired. We spend a lot of time with our dogs, garden and do church activities. I am originally from Germany, my late husband was moved here. It was hard to move from a large city in Germany to a little Kentucky hick town.”

“I am from German too. I came here when I was 14. My mother married a soldier and came over here. You think it is a dream to come here. In some ways it has been good to be here. I am hard working, but not ambitious and stayed humble.”

“We don’t drive. We walk, take the bus or have friends take us. We eat lunch and shop at the Piggly Wiggly.”

“I never drove because I am blind in one eye, she is blind in one eye too. We have something in common there. I was blind in that eye since I came over here. That was a bad omen,”

“I had glaucoma. I was 28 when I lost my eye. I don’t think about it, I just deal with it.”

“She does everything. I would be lost without her.”
