“We are from Colombia and moved to Florida three years ago. We moved because Columbia is very dangerous. We live in Broward, an hour from Miami and went to Jacksonville before we came to Mobile. It was hard to leave our home and not know where we were going to go.
Adjusting to school and learning the culture was the hardest part of moving to the U.S. but here you can go anywhere at night. We left my grandparents behind but my cousins moved here last year. I know immigration is an issue here, but not all people from South America are bad.
The education, jobs and opportunities are better here for my kids. It has been hard learning English but it is so important for everything so I am trying. This country is awesome and I am thankful for the environment for my children. I am very happy we are here.”
