Everyone from the Neighborhood Comes Here

March 3, 2018

“We come out here every day and talk, play dominoes, drink beer and smoke cigarettes. We just don’t have any women around here.”

“Most of us are retired. The young guys are things like electricians and work at Chevron and stop by when they can.”

“Sometimes we play cards when the wind isn’t blowing. We don’t shoot dice and we don’t bet. We get along too well for that.”

“We usually have more out here than this. Everybody from the neighborhood comes here. You don’t have to worry about being a stranger. No one is going to mess with you. When it rains we go to someone’s house.”

“We have been doing this for years. Our church is across the street. They call us tree members and we have our congregation out here.”
