“I am from Opelousas, Louisiana and grew up in the oil fields. We have an oil field business with technology that detects leaks or cracks in the pipes. We are in Mobile for a memorial for a cousin who passed away, so this became a little family trip. I usually work seven days a week. This is nice to unplug and play with my wife and kids. I have a lot of black friends at home. It is weird here because you can still feel the segregation. I know it is everywhere. A guy just burned down three black churches in Opelousas. We have to treat each other better and get past this hate. We are all going through things. I was once addicted to drugs, but I got clean and I am trying to be a good husband and father for my family. They are everything. I am trying to give back as much as I can.”
