“I live in Jacksonville, but I am here visiting my brother-in-law, Rick Bragg. We live close to his mother and help take care of her. I am married to Rick’s brother, Sam. We are used to it all with Rick now. He has a gift. He can take phrases and make them sound so fresh. When he won the Pulitzer, my alarm clock went and it was the news and they were announcing the winners. I called his mama and s
he said, ‘Yes, hon, Rick won a little award.’ One highlight was Pat Conroy came to visit her. She didn’t know Pat, but I did. He sent her some flowers and she said, ‘Hon, a man sent me some flowers. His name is Pat Conroy.’ Pat loved Margaret and her sisters.”
“Sam and I will be married for 40 years in November. He is a hard worker and we can’t make him stop. He takes care of his mama’s place and our place. My mother passed away six years ago and I have a handicap brother that has Fragile X Syndrome. He just turned 46 and came to live with us. Sam taught him how to weed eat and do yard work and spends time with him every day. He made my brother a part of their family. Margaret loves him too. My brother is all different ages wrapped in one and you never know what you are going to get.”
Beautiful. Margaret raised good boys!
What an amazing lady Teresa Bragg is as well as a mighty kind friend. Teresa cared for my best friend of my adolescent years for their entire married life until his untimely death a few months ago on April 15, 2021. Sam and Teresa have cared for so many people in their years together through his gut and gristle and her amazing kindness and humbleness. Most of all, Teresa cared for Sam as no other person could through his battle with pancreatic cancer. Teresa and their daughter Meredith have shown love and devotion as only a wife and daughter can to the man who provided and cared for all they had. Thank you Teresa for your love and caring heart and for allowing me to hoard in every once in a while to relate to the days of yesteryear and memories of two you boys just one day apart in age.
