I can do the same thing, but not as quickly–that’s what happens with birthdays

May 31, 2025

“I’ve been washing windows since 2004. I used to do eight stores a day. Now, I push myself for four. I can do the same thing, but not as quickly–that’s what happens with birthdays. For every year after 50, you lose 30 minutes of energy. Past 55, you’ve lost an hour. I’m a numbers man. I time myself and add things up.

I’ll be 64 in June and still live in the house where I was born in Yazoo City. As a child, it took me 45 minutes to mow the yard; now, it takes two hours and thirty minutes. I’m the same person doing the same thing, but it’s the difference between being 14 and 60. Even my walking pace has dropped down. When I get home, I keep going and do what I need to do because it’s a struggle to stay motivated. If I sit down, I won’t get back up, so I change my shoes and keep going.

I’m getting older, but I’m always good to folks and look for ways to help them. That’s in my spirit.  God uses me to help others.”
