“I wanted to bring my husband and son down here. I came here seven years ago and met the dearest friend of my life. It was divine intervention. He is an artist and we met at Mateers. It was the only escape I took while my father was dying of pancreatic cancer. My dad was the strongest man I had known until I met my friend Michael who was strong in other ways. He was an artist and made a big impact on my life. He sent me books and encouragement and understood what I was going through because he had lost his aunt to cancer who had practically raised him. A year later I brought my mother here because this is a place in my soul. I now have a little boy who was unexpected, but he is the biggest blessing. He was due on the day my dad died. We are looking to relocate and this is a possible option. There is such a positive energy here and I want to give back to a place like this. Even if we are just passing through today, that is ok too. We are trying to talk through things and we found answers on this trip. Even just overheard sentences here that aren’t random. We are going home this evening and will talk more from there. There is so much going on and I was having panic attacks last week and that is not me. My husband made me take this little trip to get out. Every turn of the wheel in the car, every word spoken has meant something. There have been immaculate crossovers.”
“Are you going to write about it?”
“Absolutely. I believe in documenting experiences. Telling stories means something.”

Fairhope brings lots of folks together with similar experiences. We live in a good place.
