The first day here was scary. The building was in such bad shape that I almost didn’t want to work here. I felt like I was going to fall through the floors. We have been working here for three months and started on the ground floor and started jacking up the other floors. At first, I thought they should rip it out and start over. Now I think we are heading in the right way and it feels good to save it. I started with my boss pouring concrete and told him I do construction, too. He liked my get up and go and wanted to try me on other jobs. I have two daughters in high school and want to get them through college. They will be the first two from my family to graduate from college and start the trend. I went to college for a while but quit, like a dummy. My two boys didn’t go but they make good money. One person starts a trend like going to college and the other will follow.”
