“I am driving through from Idaho to Tampa Bay, Florida. I sell home security systems and cold call door to door. That is not fun in single-degree weather in the snow. This is my first time in Alabama and just got out of my car in Mobile. Trip Advisor told me to go to Bob’s Diner. I am not the best at cold calling because there is a lot of rejection. In the summer I got 100 accounts, but it took six days a week, nine to ten hours a day and a lot of no’s. I would like to pay off my student loans one day and get a car that is not 15 years old. The job has made me social and better at friendly conversations. I am trying to talk to locals and experience a few states on the drive to Florida. There are good people everywhere, you just have to find them.”
