“I am 17. I got osteosarcoma, cancer in the bones, when I was 13. I knew something was wrong when I had leg pain playing basketball. The doctor did an X-ray and then an MRI. It was scary, I had never heard of osteosarcoma before. Treatment was rough and lasted 10 months. There were close to 20 surgeries. I was at Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. I was in the hospital 170 days and have been in remission for two-and-a-half years. My family, faith, and friends got me through it and my mama kept telling me I was going to get better. I want to be a physical therapist and work at the hospital that took care of me. I have learned to find the positive in everything and that glitter nail polish doesn’t work on a prosthetic foot.”
