I grew up with bad acne and it took a toll on me

November 2, 2022

“I planned to go to college in the fall, but it didn’t work out, so I am chilling in Yazoo City until spring. My birthday is this week. There isn’t much to do on Sunday afternoons in downtown Yazoo City when everything is closed. We brought some chalk and may try to do some art.

I grew up with bad acne, and it took a toll on me. On days of bad breakouts, I was so embarrassed that I covered my face walking down the halls. When I looked in the mirror, I got sad and depressed. People don’t understand how something like bad acne affects your mental health. I finally saw a dermatologist and that helped.

I want to major in something with dermatology and help treat acne patients physically and mentally. I think the ones who have been there and understand the pain are the best for helping others through.”
