“I volunteer for five hours every day at the VA. I answer questions and get them where they need to go. Not everyone helps veterans. If it hadn’t been for the people who put their lives on the line, you wouldn’t be where you are now. They walk in with one leg, one arm, or crazy in the head. You can’t imagine what they have seen and been through. They did what they had to do. I am a disabled veteran. Some say thank you for your service. A few more ask why did I do it. I did it because that is what I thought I was supposed to do. I had kids and I wanted them to have a better life. My daughter has been in the Army for 12 years. My wife, before she died, spent 22 years in the Navy and I became a mom while she served. A lot of the homeless in Mobile are veterans, but no one gives a damn. The veterans at the VA are hurting. They have problems at home or in their job. They look forward to seeing me every day because I make them laugh and take it off their mind. I don’t know how I do it, but I just be me. God put me here for a reason and I do what he wants me to do.”
Good enough isn’t an option. It’s got to be the best I can do.
“I even make my sandwich backwards. I put my bottom piece here and my bun here. And then whenever I eat it, my bottom...

Thank you for your service then and now!
