I never thought I would get back on my feet

“I was homeless when I first came to Albany. I didn’t have family here but was led by the Lord to move here. I went to an event sponsored by Mission Change that gave haircuts and let people make phone calls to their families and they began to minister to me. Two months later I got a job at the church and a place to live and I am now working at the school. These programs do work. It means so much to be off the street because I never thought I would get back on my feet. I lost my mom and dad to cancer and I was the one left to take care of them. After the funeral times got hard. I came to Albany for a job and that fell through. Mission Change taking the time for people like me, saved me. I was depressed and didn’t think anyone cared. I now do a lot of volunteering and community work, I am a minister of music and play music at church services. I try to make a difference to other people now.”
