I want my girls to know they can throw away the safety net

July 26, 2019

“My two-year-old daughter was grabbing my hair and ripping it out so I cut it off. I am homeschooling my oldest daughter. It all just flows. I met my husband when I took his phone number out of my friend’s phone. He met me 20 minutes later. There was some miscommunication and we went other ways. Two years later, we dated for three months and got married on Halloween.

Postpartum was rough. My hormones were out of whack and I didn’t know why I was hating the days and a complete mess. I looked and felt nothing like the mothers with babies on Instagram. I have PCOS, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. It is a hormone disorder and I don’t have a steady flow of estrogen and testosterone. Once I had a name and diagnosis, it was a weight off my shoulders. I know what I am dealing with. I had to figure it out and understand what my body is and isn’t supposed to do.

I want my girls to know they don’t have to settle for what’s been given for their future. Throw away the safety net. You don’t need it. Do what you love. When you start out, it may not look like you will be successful, but if it is what you love, stay with it.”
