“I taught myself how to play the trumpet. In church, they asked who wants to be a musician. I picked the trumpet because it’s the instrument mentioned most in the Bible. The music teacher came once and never returned, but I have been playing for 10 years.
I graduated in chemistry from the university then taught chemistry and math at the technical school. I have finished my period of social service teaching, and I am looking at my other choices.
Music is my best way of expression. In Cuba, people listen too much to foreign music. I write songs and want to start a band that makes the real music of the Cubans.”
