“I have shot about 1500 sunsets in Fairhope. I got into photography through my father. I took photography classes in 7th grade and flunked and was told I was terrible at it and gave it up. I got into live music and realized I could get onto the front row of shows as a photographer so I got into photography again. I was in Atlanta and shot a lot of live music for free. I really got back into it after I got hurt in 2009 because I had so much free time. I moved down here in 2010 and learned from the photographers in the area. I am still learning as I go. My therapy and relaxation is to come down to the bay with my dog, Tanya, and this gives me something to do while I stare at the water. I worked in national account sales for Coca-Cola before I got hurt and sold to the US military for 20 years. I was in Colorado representing Coke and skiing at a winter ski clinic for disabled vets. One night I was sitting on the deck that was four stories high and slipped and fell. I punctured both lungs and am lucky to be here. There were 2 ER nurses close by and they resuscitated me. They flew me out in a Medevac at night. I was in ICU for five weeks, then went to Washington DC for five weeks. Coke was good to me and I tried to work for a year, then went on long term disability and retired early. When I got hurt, my mom and dad were by my side. My mom uprooted her life here and moved with me to Annapolis, Maryland. She was the one who helped me get back to work. I had gotten married in Fairhope about a month before I got hurt. We tried to stay together for a year after my injury but the marriage never had a chance. It was a crazy couple of years with some very trying times and my mom and dad were right by my side. I had done a lot of things before the accident and I still do a lot of things now. I hunt and fish, but I have a few limitations. I need a little help in the mornings, then I am good to go. I get good parking and have a good dog I get to take everywhere.”
Good enough isn’t an option. It’s got to be the best I can do.
“I even make my sandwich backwards. I put my bottom piece here and my bun here. And then whenever I eat it, my bottom...

I know Chris from working together at Coke. I knew he was a survivor and after his injury he hasn’t stopped living life. I’m so impressed and awed by his willpower to never give up. His photography is beautiful and I always enjoy looking at his pictures. I love his dog too! Miss you Chris. Your friend Lori
Hi Chris – I did not know the story behind your accident. Thanks for sharing. I too had a major setback in 2009 when my husband passed away suddenly. Puts things in perspective. Your pictures bring me peace / thank you for sharing them. Dianne Scott
