“Our homecoming dance is tonight. We came to Chickamauga Military Park for our pictures and are going to the Waffle House for dinner. I am the fifth wheel, but these girls have been my best friends since pre-k. We are juniors and have been inseparable for 13 years. I read books and ride horses. We hang out at McDonald’s, and fast food restaurants are the main jobs for us. We are going to college, but the world is in a weird place. It’s scary thinking about where it goes from here.”
