People pierce to adorn and accessorize like a bracelet or a purse and some come in for deeper meanings

“I started piercing 10 years ago. I was dating a girl in Atlanta and she was a body piercer and got me into it because she wanted me to work with her. I moved back to Mobile and apprenticed under a piercer for a year. A lot of it was pushing me to the limits to make sure I wanted to do this and I did a lot of free piercings to practice. People pierce to adorn and accessorize like a bracelet or a purse and some come in for deeper meanings. A lot of people come in for daith piercings on the inner cartilage fold of the ear because they say it relieves migraine headaches. I do about 20 a week and people email and tell me at works, other say it didn’t work but it is a cool piercing. If whatever I am doing is helping, I am stoked about that. That piercing is the hardest one to do. It is piercing to the inside of the ear and it has to be slow and in exactly the right spot. A person picked up a ring here, went to Fairhope pier and used it as her wedding ring and then came back here and pierced her daith with it. She wears it as her wedding ring. I do 10-20 piercings a day and sometimes do over 100 a week.I also run Victoria’s Finds, it is an online antiques and oddities store of things you would find around a tattoo shop. Cool things from estate sales and flea markets. Someone is getting their neck tattooed, you need something to look at and distract you like a coyote head smoking a cigarette with a captain hat on the wall. Some use them as references for tattoos. My wife and I also do insect pinnings. It teaches me to calm down and to have patience, something I need more of.”
