“I won a lottery to move to the U.S. from Peru. I had an opportunity to come here for my daughter so she can have a better life. It is beautiful here. We have been here 14 years and my daughter is 24 now. I do alterations on clothes, prom dresses and wedding dresses. God has brought good people to my life. We went to New York first, I didn’t like the big city. Then moved to Dallas and Fairhope. I am a single mother and this has been a good place to raise my daughter. I didn’t know any English when I moved here. It has gotten a little better the last few years. It was hard to find a job because I didn’t know English. God has blessed me so much. People told me I was lucky to win the lottery, I wasn’t lucky, I was blessed. You believe in God and everything is easier. I have God and anything is possible.”
