At least we will have something to laugh about

April 28, 2020

“I saw the ‘We Will Bloom Again’ sign on Instagram and it was so positive that I had to have it at my store. We have lost all of our weddings and events, but one day we are going to have pretties again. In the meantime, we are going to have a flower arranging class tonight. Everyone is picking up their flower kit this afternoon that includes flowers, wire, and a vase. I will go on Instalive tonight and we will arrange at home. This is the first time I have ever done something like this. I don’t even know how to use Instalive. We have sold out and are trying to get more flowers this afternoon so we can add a few more. We will do this again in two weeks.
I have been open in Fairhope for 12 years and still love flowers and events. The week before the virus, we were working 15-hour days. We were so busy and within a week, everything was canceled. Even when the state opens back up, our business is not coming back. We won’t be able to gather more than ten people. Later on, it won’t go up much more. I doubt our corporate work will come back this year because no one is going to put their people in one room.
We have to find other ways for income. From the first day, we have the sweetest customers and the best support. This flower-arranging class is a win-win because our flower farmers are getting beat up and we can buy a few more. They are opening back up, but the demand isn’t there. We are trying to help keep each other going up and down the supply chain.
We are Wildflowers Fairhope on Instagram. This could just be a comedy show of me trying to figure this out, but at least we will have something to laugh about.”
