“We loaded three Penske trucks with toys and will give them to four charities through Toys for Tots. We helped about 1200 families last year. I am proud to be a part of the Marine Corps League because we help people, not just veterans. If a veteran is having trouble making a payment on his car because he got sick, fired, or bad circumstances, we help take care of them. All of us in the League are Marines and have served overseas. Most of the guys in my detachment are Vietnam veterans. I am a Korean veteran and enlisted in the Marine Corps because I didn’t want to get drafted in the Army. I was 18 and did my service and got out. I retired from marketing and became a registered nurse and worked in psychiatric care with kids. Now I serve at Thomas Hospital and other places. You can’t sit around on your can or you will die.”
