“I was a policeman in St. Louis and someone hit me over the head. It is a dangerous job. They put me in drug enforcement administration. I stayed over four years and then went into homicide. We were having 3-4 homicides a day. I had to get out so moved to Nashville and started writing songs and got a recording contract. I played all over the world. I moved to Miami and played in a parade and fell off the float and hit my head. I died and went to heaven and God said, ‘Get back down there, I am not done with you yet.’ I had to learn how to walk and talk all over again and I haven’t shut up since.”
