I have been a migrant worker for 27 years

July 23, 2017

“We will sell 200 watermelons a day, 2 for $5 is a good deal. I have been doing this for 27 years. I am a migrant worker and go from Florida to Indiana and do everything from working in the fields to packing them in the semis to selling them on the roadside. I love it. We will go up through Georgia, North Carolina, Delaware, Indiana and so on. There are programs for migrant works and they put us up in motels and provide toothbrushes, wash cloths and everything we need. You can call me Joe Kool with a K.” (Joe Kool’s watermelon stand across from Love’s in Cottondale, Florida).
