“I was on Dauphin Island this morning at 5 a.m. with a headlamp and I found a 1964 silver quarter, a 1943 Mexican peso, and a Civil War buckle. This only happens on cold days when the wind is strong and it blows out the tide. I am a member of the South Alabama Historical Research and Recovery Association and have been treasure hunting for about ten years. I found a gold necklace on this beach. I have also found a old Spanish coin, fragments of cannon balls and Civil War bullets. I have collected over 200 medicine bottles. I once found a gold ring and a $20 bill on the same day.”
