“Music is with me all of the time. I started playing drums when I was 10, then played harmonica and banjo. I realized I would never be as good as Ralph Stanley, so I switched to rhythm guitar. I still feel like I am struggling to get my foot in the door. It is never-ending and I am constantly trying to write songs that will elevate things. Sometimes on the road I think, ‘I can’t do this. I can’t disappoint the audience.’ I still have a fear of failure but the reward is writing, recording, and performing a song that I love and the audience responds to it.”
