“I was a mechanic, but now I am retired and working in a parking lot at night watching over cars. It takes two hours by bus to get to work. The bus is very crowded and makes many stops. I was born in 1950 and want to keep my mind active. I took an English class with my friends two years ago, and I am still learning. I write down pages from English books or poetry and have a dictionary to study the words while I am here at night. I listen to English from Florida on the radio, but they speak very fast, and it is difficult to understand. I want to have conversations to practice my English. If you speak slowly, I can hear what you are saying. I am also a songwriter. My friend is in a band, and I hope they will sing my songs in the future. One of my songs is Winter Has Come. I wrote it in Spanish, but maybe I can translate it into English so you can hear it.”
